The Executioner

Everyone knows I'm a huge boxing fan so a massive congratulations goes to Bernard "B-Hop" Hopkins who at 43, turned back the hands of time to expose the myth of Kelly Pavlik at a catch-weight 170lb contest on Saturday night. Hopkins provided a masterclass display to win a unanimous decision to show why even at his age he is still one of the greatest pound for pound fighters in the world. I have always been a fan of Hopkins, his reign at middleweight champion will go down in history as will the names on his record (Winky Wright,Tarver,De La Hoya,Trinidad) any fights he has lost bar, his first pro fight and an early clash with Roy Jones Jnr have been contentious decisions, and on Saturday night he took away yet another undefeated record from a man 17 years his junior who was 34-0 with 30 KOs going into the fight.

His life story reads like a hollywood film, a native of Philly he has been stabbed a few times, done 5 years in prison with 9 years parole, lost his first pro bout only to go on and become one of the greatest fighters the sport has seen.

Extra props to B-Hop who had Freeway do his ringwalk (he has used Bun B in the past)

Let's hope the winner of Calzaghe/Jones gives him a rematch here so he can avenge one of the blemishes on his record
