Pacewon & Mr Green "Children Sing"

My man Mr Green who produced "Dropkicked" "Do my 1.2" & The "Bragging Rights Intro" for me is back with his latest single off his collaboration album with underground legend Pacewon -"Children Sing"

Flip put me on to Mr Green a few years back and I knew he was the one to call on when I came across the DKM sample (too bad they wouldn't clear the fucking thing, shout out to Danny Mac and Mickey Ward for doing their best to help it get out there)

I met Green in person last year in Boston and he is a cool guy, with mad love for his craft. Pacewon should need no introduction for any hip-hop head and its good to see these two get places, the video is nice so do spread the word.

I have a couple more joints with Green in the works so look out for those
and cop the album from the myspace now

Gaelforce Fagan to Face Amir Khan

It was announced today that my man Oisin "Gaelforce" Fagan will take on Amir Khan in his comeback bout at the London Excel on December 6th. Khan was smashed to pieces in his last fight against Bredis Prescott in 45 seconds.

Fagan is my good friend and we first got to know each other when he contacted me through myspace to say he used "Take a Look" as an inspiration for his training, He was based in Oklahoma at the time and soon he began to use the song as his ring entrance music. I was lucky enough to walk along side him to the ring in his Dublin fight against Chill John and even got to be in the corner on the night.

Me and Fagan's friendship continued and I namechecked him and Andy Lee in the song "Dropkicked"

I knew about this for a while but had to keep it under wraps and honestly as a boxing fan, I was shocked that Khan's people took the Prescott fight, I'm even more shocked they took the this one. Oisin can take a shot, he is a pressure fighter, He has been robbed twice once against Verquan Kimborough for the NABF title and once against Paul Spadafora. (both who would smash Khan in my opinion and none of who would give Fagan a rematch) and he is as game as they come and a genuine hard bastard

Ois is the underdog and he will want it that way as he goes into this fight. After struggling to overcome an over the hill Gomez and getting destroyed in his fight against Prescott, I am surprised Khan is giving Fagan this shot but I'm delighted for Oisin and hope this can open some doors for him

feel free to drop Oisin a message of support on myspace and check his page for updates as he is fond of a blog himself :)

The Executioner

Everyone knows I'm a huge boxing fan so a massive congratulations goes to Bernard "B-Hop" Hopkins who at 43, turned back the hands of time to expose the myth of Kelly Pavlik at a catch-weight 170lb contest on Saturday night. Hopkins provided a masterclass display to win a unanimous decision to show why even at his age he is still one of the greatest pound for pound fighters in the world. I have always been a fan of Hopkins, his reign at middleweight champion will go down in history as will the names on his record (Winky Wright,Tarver,De La Hoya,Trinidad) any fights he has lost bar, his first pro fight and an early clash with Roy Jones Jnr have been contentious decisions, and on Saturday night he took away yet another undefeated record from a man 17 years his junior who was 34-0 with 30 KOs going into the fight.

His life story reads like a hollywood film, a native of Philly he has been stabbed a few times, done 5 years in prison with 9 years parole, lost his first pro bout only to go on and become one of the greatest fighters the sport has seen.

Extra props to B-Hop who had Freeway do his ringwalk (he has used Bun B in the past)

Let's hope the winner of Calzaghe/Jones gives him a rematch here so he can avenge one of the blemishes on his record

Jay-Z Dissing Fat Joe?

Well not really. Last Night Kay Slay played a "new" track from Uncle Murda featuring Jay-Z where he is supposed to be going at Fat Joe and DJ Khaled.

Long story short - the verse is old, it doesn't contain any reference to Khaled but has a few jabs for Joe, which I suppose stems from their long standing, bubbling under the surface beef. Regardless, its old and why would Jay want to go @ Joe now (is there any need?)

Hova has been the king of the subliminals his entire career and if you look at it anybody who has taken him on loses (including Nas, yeah I said it) Stand up
Mase, Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Meeno from Harlem World (remember him?) Jayo Felony

There was rumours of an altercation in a NY nightspot a couple of years ago, (Jay-Z punching Joe and Big Pun hitting Damon Dash with a champagne bottle) and a Hot 97 phonecall live on air where they were going at each other over the rucker park basketball game (who cares?)

anyway - the track is still dope and The track "Top 10" by Masta Ace is the all time greatest Fat Joe diss (even though Fat Joe knocked him out afterwards so I guess he won)

Fifa 09

I've been down with FIFA since 96 but the last few years I strayed to Pro Evo.
Last year I went back to FIFA on the PS3 and I just copped the new Fifa 09 last weekend and its dope. Smooth gameplay, realistic one touch passing, and the through ball is sick. They also have a dope new feature which allows you to be one player in the team and work your way up from the reserves in the first team which should break up the monotony of manager mode.....I am spending way too much time on this when I should be writing for my album. At least I can end Celtic's away day hoodoo in Europe on this...been too long

Throwbacks...

I have just tracked down this tape. I first heard it on Westwood back in 96.
It was from the Bad Boy series, Puff had seen the power of mixtapes early, and had released a series where he hosted them and had a popular DJ (Doowap was among the other spinners used) This installment was mixed by Stretch Armstrong of the Stretch and Bobbito show on WKCR. Which was famous for it's in studio Freestyles and no censorship (Big L's "98 Freestyle" was taken from this show).

The tracklisting is pretty amazing, and this is the first time I had heard pretty much all of these songs this is what I miss the most about the so called "golden era" all of these joints are on the SAME TAPE, coming out within a few weeks of each other..One nice way to look at it though, most of the acts on here bar one or two still have huge careers.

Swagger Like Hov

Proof that Jay-Z is the King of NYC. Footage taken from T.I's "Paper Trail" album launch in NYC. Look how crazy the crowd go when Hov takes the stage, singing HIS part of the song word for word. I'm looking forward to Blueprint 3, rumours are abound that Kanye is handling the bulk of the production and that there has been a "Swagger Like Us 2" recorded for it featuring Andre 3000 (he once declined the chance to work with Jay-Z on the "Poppin Tags" joint from BP2 because he wasn't motivated by the subject? he must be motivated by his own swagger then) Nas and Young Jeezy.

Meanwhile the onslaught of oversaturation of this joint continues with everyone doing frees over this and the original M.I.A "Paper Planes" record, In a way I hate when records like this get HUGE as its kinda like being in love with a girl only to find out she was a "Hosie" (shout to Johnny Drama)

Word has it Jim Jones has an answer to the this on his album called "swaggerjack from us" - not that anyone gives a shit
