I'm a little late on this so please forgive me. This is my homeboy Dan Greenpeace's mix. If you don't know about Greenpeace you should put google to good use and find about him, DJ with ill skills, journalist and manager among other stuff but more importantly for me one of the realest people in the business who has always given me valuable advice.
Brand new Charlie Sloth featuring Farma G and Black The Ripper "Not Like You"
Charlie is my brother from another mother and his new mixtape "The Black Book" produced entirely by Dominic Owen (who produced "Things Done Changed" for Biggie) and featuring the cream of the crop of the UK Scene including Rodney P, Skinnyman, Wretch 32, Mystro, Scrorzayzee, Sincere, Stylah, Million Dan, Ransom Badbonez, and oh yeah ....Ireland's finest aka....me
I'm back in the zone in terms of new music. I've been recording so much verses lately. I've got a backlog of features that I'm catching up on too.
Yesterday I recorded a verse for Charlie Sloth's new mixtape "The Black Book", did a verse for a house record and I went in on this Nicki Minaj leak "Saxon" (She actually wrote this song for Rihanna but it didn't make the album) produced by Chase & Status
Gimme that beat fool.. It's a full time Jack move. Expect new mixtape to be in the bag imminently
The usual dose of modesty from me with a Dis to Ashley Cole and an Eastenders ending..dum dum dum dum dum dudda dudda
One of my biggest heroes in music is 11 years dead. If I live to be 100 I will never be as good as him.
I don't know if these little kids listening to Lil Wayne or Drake for the first time these days are going through the same thing now but when I first heard Big L, I used to stay up til 4a.m listening to Westwood and I remember the first time he played "Put It On" I nearly broke the rewind button on the tape to hear it again.
Big L was shot and killed in a case of mistaken identity in Harlem on Feb 15th 1999 and one of the things I always think about at this time is the fact that he was just about to sign with Roc-A-Fella when he passed away which would have meant him in the studio with some early Just Blaze and Kanye West production...the mind boggles when you think about how he would have demolished some of those beats.
Greatest of all time is a term bandied about too often these days but when made in reference to him it's hard to argue.
I jumped on Tinie Tempah's monster "Pass Out" and the big homie Semtex debuted it on his blog on Sunday. A lot of positive response from the blogs and the DJs alike.
Recorded this in one take with Mo in RTE on Sunday.
Make sure to reply to @tinietempah on Twitter to let him know if you are feeling it.
Anyone that knows me knows I'm a big Styles P fan. I was excited to hear from my man DJ OP that I could set up an Interview with him for Mo & Tando's radio show "Speakerboxx" on RTE Pulse. Myself, Tando & Mo took the helm for the interview.
We talked about BIG, His time in Dublin and the classic LP "The Green Ghost Project"
